The Golden Oak Chalet is situated on a working farm in the coastal town of Dunbar, East Lothian. Dunbar has many shops and cafes which sell local produce.
Other local tourist attractions include Links Golf course, East Links Family Park, Foxlake Wakeboarding, as well as the John Muir walkway, cycle paths and miles of East Lothian beaches. For those who enjoy visiting historic sites, Doon Hill Ancient Monument is on the doorstep. You can travel a short distance to North Berwick where Tantallon Castle, the Marine Spa, Seacliff Stables or the Seabird Centre may take your fancy. It is approximately 1 mile off the A1 which is a mere 35 miles into Edinburgh where there is something to suit everyone. Hop on the train at Dunbar train station for a stress free journey into the Capital in around 30 minutes.
There is never a dull moment on the farm and guests are welcome to roam freely to see the animals and experience farm life. There are a herd of Limousin Beef cattle, a variety of different sheep breeds including Zwartbles, Hampshires, Texels and Shetlands. Free range chickens and ducks (fresh eggs available to buy on site) and even some pigs and horses.
Dunbar offers a wide array of facilities including a swimming pool and is a popular coastal holiday destination; it’s reported to enjoy the longest sunshine hours in the UK. Watch the fishing boats return to the harbour with their daily catch or enjoy a cliff top stroll and listen to the waves crash against the shoreline.
This area is renowned for its several championship golf courses and visitors will enjoy experiencing the many attractions close by, including the Scottish Museum of Flight and The John Muir Country Park. A regular train service from Dunbar takes only 20 minutes to reach the heart of the cultural city of Edinburgh, renowned for its festivals, arts and music venues, superb castle and medieval buildings (not forgetting shopping along the Royal Mile)- ensuring Golden Oak Chalet allows easy access to explore and discover the abundance of entertainment available across East Lothian and beyond.
